Crosshairs Traders track earnings dates for two reasons: 1) to take advantage of increased volatility ahead of earnings, and 2) to remove the element of surprise when deciding to either hold on to or enter a position. An earnings report, when used properly, can provide an opportunity to make a profitable trade; when used improperly it is nothing more than a gamble.
