THE OFFICIAL CROSSHAIRS TRADER DICTIONARY FOR STOCK AND OPTIONS TRADING

5 STAR GENERAL:  a well known, successful trader or a renowned author whose writings provide a greater understanding of how the successful trader thinks (e.g., SUN TZU, Mark Douglas, Steve Nison, etc.)

 

200 TANKS:  the 200 period simple moving average, can be used for support or resistance

 

50 TANKS: the 50 period simple moving average, can be used for support or resistance

 

21 TANKS: the 21 period simple moving average, can be used for support or resistance

 

ARMY: the group of stocks (and the stocks’ options) you decide to trade; this may change based on market conditions and casualties

 

BATTLE ENTRY LINE:  the vertical line in the CROSSHAIRS, also known as the entry line.  Indicates the candle where a trade entry is made.

 

BATTLE EXIT LINE:  the horizontal line in the CROSSHAIRS, also know as the loss line.  Indicates where to get out of a trade if it is not working.

 

BATTLEFIELD: the stock market

 

BATTLEFIELD SUMMARY:  statistics at the end of the day, includes closing numbers such as the DOW, NASDAQ, S&P, oil, gold, etc.

 

BATTLEFIELD TERRAIN:  the current general market condition or market condition of a particular stock whose characteristics are defined by the charts and best described for us by SUN TZU in THE ART OF WAR-a very important text used extensively by THE CROSSHAIRS TRADER for its wisdom and insight into successful battlefield strategy. 

 

BATTLEFIELD TERRAINS: 1) accessible: favorable trend trading; 2) precipitous heights: favorable catalyst trading; 3) temporizing: favorable sideways or range bound trading; 4) entangling: least favorable short chart trading; 5) narrow passes: unfavorable due to little movement for trading, tighter range than temporizing; 6) great distances: unfavorable because of a recent major move in the stock, time for a rest.

BEER MATH:  The precise calculations taught at sniper school reduced to much simpler formula-so simple, snipers say, that you could get them right even if you were under the influence of a few beers.  The point: simple trading rules equals a clearer understanding of the market.

BUFFER ZONE:  area of consolidation, a period of rest after an extended move

 

CASUALTY OF WAR:  a stock that no longer exists due to delisting, going out of business, being purchased by another company, etc.  No longer tradable.

 

COMMANDER-IN CHIEF: the Federal Reserve Chairman, Ben Bernanke, known as “Uncle Ben”

 

COMBAT:  the very act of trading

 

COORDINATED ATTACK:   a carefully planned and executed trade in which the various weapons in THE CROSSHAIRS TRADER arsenal are employed in such a manner as to utilize their powers to the greatest advantage of the whole. In other words, utilizing the trader’s weapons in such a manner that the probability of success is stacked in his favor.

 

CROSSING ENEMY LINES:  moving average crossovers such as when the 21MA crosses over the 50MA

 

DEPLOYED: a stock that is currently in a trade position

 

DEPLOYMENT CHART:  chart used to enter a trade wherein the CROSSHAIRS is drawn and is in agreement with a larger chart (BATTLEFIELD TERRAIN/TANKS)

 

DIVISION:  a sector of stocks such as the oil services sector (OIH), banking sector (BIX), biotech sector (BBH), etc.

 

DRAFTED: a stock that is idle, no decision has been made to trade

 

MAJOR GENERAL:  the market leader(s) within a particular sector (e.g., Exxon, in the oil sector)

 

MARCHING: a steadily trending stock

 

MOVING AVERAGE BAIT (MAB):  MAB refers to the movement of a stock and/or index from one area of consolidation or moving average to another moving average with the moving average acting as bait to entice the movement.

 

NEWS FROM THE FRONTLINES:  general market news or stock specific news that can impact your trading decisions.

 

RESERVES:  a stock that is close to, but not quite ready, to be deployed, a condition, or a few more conditions, must be met before entry

 

RULES OF ENGAGEMENT:  the predetermined rules used by THE CROSSHAIRS TRADER when making a decision to enter the battlefield

 

SNIPER TRADER:  the sniper builds confidence by staying focused on a highly accurate rules based methodology via repetition.  This methodology has proven to be highly successful when followed with a high degree of perfection, thereby, ensuring maximum return with minimum risk.

 

SOLDIER: a stock (and its options) you trade

 

SPY: a source, such as a reporter, who uncovers information about a particular company or person

 

SUN TZU:  a Chinese military general ( circa 500 BC) who wrote what is regarded as the earliest and most revered military treatise in the world.  The work is known as The Art of War.  In it we find the principles necessary to engage in successful battle.

 

WEAPONS:  those instruments used by THE CROSSHAIRS TRADER to make trading decisions (e.g., moving averages, indicators, crossovers, etc).

 

WOUNDED IN ACTION:  a stock that loses a significant amount of value, due to bad news or heavy selling pressure in a very short period of time
